The arithmetic average, also called the mean, is the total of all entered values divided by the number of values. It is useful when every observation should carry equal weight, such as a simple list of scores, daily quantities, measurements, or invoice amounts.
Paste values in a comma-separated list, or separate them with spaces, semicolons, or new lines. The calculator ignores empty separators and shows the count, sum, minimum, and maximum alongside the mean so you can quickly check whether a missing, duplicated, or unusual number may affect the result.
A simple mean is not always the correct metric. Weighted grades, weighted prices, interest rates, grouped data, and percentages with different denominators may need a weighted average. Large outliers can also make the mean less representative, so compare it with the range and consider a median when appropriate.
