A February 29 birthday is observed on February 28 in a non-leap year for this calculator. Legal age rules can differ by jurisdiction.
Age in years counts completed birthdays, not a rough division by 365. A person born on December 31 has not turned one on January 1 of the next year, even though the year number has changed. This calculator compares full calendar dates so a birthday counts on the birthday date itself.
The remaining months and days describe the span after the most recent birthday. Calendar months have unequal lengths, so 30 days is not always one month. The calculation advances through calendar months and caps a missing day at the end of a shorter month. Total elapsed days is listed separately and includes leap days crossed by the date range.
A February 29 birth date needs an explicit rule for non-leap years. This tool treats February 28 as that year's birthday for age display and next-birthday countdown, then resumes February 29 in leap years. Other services or jurisdictions may use March 1, especially for legal age thresholds, so this result should not determine eligibility by itself.
Only dates are compared. Time of birth, time zone, and the exact instant of a birthday are outside this tool's scope. If you click Today, the as-of date comes from the calendar setting on your device, so check it if you are traveling or have an incorrect system clock.
